New Delhi. Grand Master R Pragyananda continued his brilliant performance and played the Baji draw with World Champion D Gukesh in the eighth round of the Tata Steel Chass Tournament. Pragyananda looked in good condition at one time but Gukesh kept playing vigilantly. When there was no clear result in the bet, both the players agreed to the draw after 33 moves.

After this draw, both Pragyananda and Gukesh are leading with 5.5 points with Nodirbek Abdusattorov of Uzbekistan. The Uzbekistan player distributed points with Vladimir Fedosiva of Slovenia. Among other Indian players participating in the competition, Grandmaster P Harikrishna played a draw with Aneesh Giri of Netherlands. Harikrishna has four points out of the potential eight.

Arjun Arigasi played her own draw with Alexi Sarana of Serbia while Leon Luke Mendanka played her own draw with Jordan Van Forest in Netherlands. Erigasi is half a point behind Mendaka with two digits. In the Challengers category, Guyen Thai Van Dam of the Czech Republic defeated 14 -year -old Chinese player Miaoi Lu to take a single lead with six points. India’s R Vaishali was stopped by Arthur Pijpers of the Netherlands on a draw, while Divya Deshmukh lost to Kazakhstan’s Kazibek Nogerbeck.
