Gauhar/ Delhi: In today’s time, if you buy a pen anywhere, then you will get a plastic pen. There will be only a few places where a biodegradable pen can be found. This is a pen that contains no negligible plastic, which has no effect on the environment. In view of this, Saurabh Mehta, who hails from Delhi, started this pen startup in 2018-19 with his wife Shivani Mehta. After this, he also registered a company in 2021. The company is preparing to launch its biodigible pen on the day of World Environmental Day on 5 June this year.
Solution
Saurabh told local 18 that the pen that would have been made 70 years ago must have been lying somewhere on the earth. Nobody is paying attention to this and this plastic will increase the amount of non -biodegradable plastic on the earth even more in the coming years. In view of this problem, he has solved it as paper pen. This pen is made of paper instead of plastic. Penn is barely 5 percent of the work. Actually, this 5 percent share is pen and its ink. From the rest of the refill to the body’s body, all the plastic is of plastic, which is equal to 95 percent of the pen.
What was the biggest difficulty
Saurabh told Local18 that he did not face much difficulty by making paper pens. But when he was making a pen refill, he was finding the most difficult. But then after research of about 4 years, he found a way that can also remove plastic from refill. He made refills with paper with a special technique. It has a vegetable oil on the inner surface, due to which the ink does not come out. This vegetable oil acts as a barrier. This pen is exactly like a regular pen to look and walk, but the good thing is that it does not leak ink.

Funding of 16 lakh rupees
Saurabh also told that his startup has received a grant of about Rs 16 lakh under the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme being run by the Government of India. The company used these money in product development. Till now this startup bootstapped, but more help will be required in the coming times. For which he will also gather funding. He wants the big players of this market to move forward with him so that he can contribute a little to the environment and make biodegradable stationery items and such paper pens even more.
