New Delhi: While many celebs of Indian cinema are hungry to attend award functions and receive honours, there are some who only want people’s love and are not interested in receiving any award. One of them is Kannada actor Kiccha Sudeep who recently received the Best Actor Award at the 2019 State Annual Awards. Now he refused to accept the honor saying that he “has stopped receiving awards for the last several years.” The actor, while addressing the Karnataka government and the jury members on ‘X’ last Thursday, said in a post that this was “a decision taken due to various personal reasons and he wants to stand by this decision. Let us tell you that after a delay of five years due to lockdown and Covid-19, the winners of the 2019 State Awards were announced by the government on January 22 and Sudeep’s name is also included.
However, the actor has refused to accept the award. Let us tell you that Sudeep won the award for his performance in the film Pailwaan, in which he played the role of a wrestler. The film was directed by S. Krishna and produced by Swapna Krishna under the banner of RRR Motion Pictures and Zee Studios. The actor wrote in his post, ‘There are many deserving actors who have put their heart and soul into their work and they will appreciate this prestigious honor more than me. It would make me even more happy to see one of them receive this award.
He also said that his dedication towards entertaining people has always been without expectations of rewards. Sudeep wrote, ‘This approval from the jury serves as an important encouragement for me to continue striving for excellence.’ The actor said, ‘I sincerely apologize to the jury members and the state government for any disappointment caused by my decision. I am sure you will respect my decision and support me on the path I have chosen. The actor’s film Pailwaan collected Rs 53 crores at the box office which was a hit movie even though it was made for Rs 45 crores. It is known that Sudeep’s new film ‘Max’, released last month, is still in theatres.
