New Delhi. New history has been written in Tata Steel Masters. For the first time, an Indian has succeeded in making this title name. R Pragyananda won the Tata Steel Masters Chess title by defeating world champion D Gukesh in Sandan Death. Set tie-breaker at the end of the last round on Sunday. The winner of the tournament was decided in a very dramatic manner. Fans got to see the entire dram during the match.
Gukesh lost his first game as a world champion and bowed to his partner Arjun Erigasi’s energetic game, while Pragyananda lost against Vincent Kemar, whose technology was excellent on the last day. Interestingly, chess lovers were reminded of the 2013 candidates tournament, where Magnus Carlson of Norway and Vladimir Kramnik of Russia took the lead together but both were defeated. In the end there was a lot of drama because Gukesh made a mistake and Pragyananda defeated the world champion.
