Swara Bhaskar On Meeting Maulana Sajjad Nomani: Bollywood actress Swara Bhaskar had met controversial Maulana Sajjad Nomani last year. A picture of Swara and her husband Fahadh with Maulana Nomani was revealed, during which Swara had also covered her head. In such a situation, he was trolled a lot. Now Swara has spoken openly about that meeting and has also told the reason for meeting with her head covered.
In a recent interview given to BBC, Swara Bhaskar talked about meeting Maulana Sajjad Nomani. She told that she was not aware of his controversial statements regarding women earlier. Swara said- ‘There is a lot of uproar during elections. Fahad had asked the social media manager to post the photo. He posted that photo without showing me and Fahadh. I didn’t realize that there would be such an uproar over that.

‘I don’t agree with those things at all’
The actress further said- ‘Maulana Sajjad Nomani was a person who was polarizing. We met many people who could have been polarizing, from both sides. I was meeting him for the first time, I had never heard the rest of his comments before. When the uproar started, I read about him. I do not agree with those things at all. I am a feminist and a very vocal feminist.
Why is the head covered while meeting Maulana?
Swara Bhaskar further explained why she covered her head with a dupatta while meeting Maulana Nomani. He said- Who said that feminists do not respect the beliefs of others, do not show respect for elders. When we go to the temple we cover our heads, when we go to the mosque we cover our heads. When going there I covered my head. Nothing can be more Indian than this.

Do compromises have to be made in politics? Swara presented her side on this question also. He said- ‘Compromises have to be made in politics. Be it student politics or national politics. The day you go to the ground for elections, compromises have to be made.
