These new rules of TRAI will provide relief to many SIM card users.
New Delhi. If you are also worried that you have to do expensive recharge again and again, then there is good news for you. Now your SIM card will not be switched off even if you do not recharge it. This is good news for those having more than one SIM card. Now the SIM card will remain valid for 90 days even if not recharged. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued new rules regarding the validity of SIM cards. After the introduction of new rules, users will get freedom from the hassle of frequent recharges and will spend less.
If there is no recharge on your number for 90 days and there is a prepaid balance of Rs 20 left in it, then the company will deduct Rs 20 and give additional validity of 30 days. In this way your number can remain active for 120 days without recharge.

What are the companies offering?
Airtel: Without recharge the SIM card will remain active for more than 90 days. After this you will get 15 days to reactivate the number. If you do not recharge even after this, the SIM card will be switched off.
Vodafone-Idea: You can use the SIM card for 90 days without recharging. After this you will have to recharge at least Rs 49.

BSNL: BSNL SIM card will remain active for 180 days without recharge.
Live: If you have Jio number then it will remain active for 90 days without recharge. During this period, the incoming call facility may be available for a month, a week or a few days depending on the last recharge plan.
